MARC BENJA SPACE GARDEN VINYL PLAYSET

Artist edition vinyl playset, collaboration between Marc Benja and Good Chaos. 

"Space Garden is a vinyl playset created in collaboration with Good Chaos (GC), based on a digital painting I originally made for them. GC approached me to create an image that illustrated their logo for the launch of their website. They gave me incredible freedom to express my personal vision, which was a rare and generous opportunity.

I envisioned something playful, colorful, and interactive—something that would let people, especially children, build their own imaginative worlds. Growing up in the 70s, I loved vinyl playsets featuring superheroes and other pop culture icons. These sets came with removable vinyl stickers that could be placed on themed backgrounds, sparking hours of creative play."

For Space Garden, there are both “day” and “night” baseboards for the set. The bases are square and without a defined horizon, intentionally left open to encourage free placement of the space and floral elements. This open format was partly inspired by Paul Klee’s garden paintings, which similarly blur boundaries and invite interpretation.
