In a time marked by global uncertainty, The Center of Order and Experimentation (COE) is a coffee and retail operation designed to create community and uplift independent makers by purveying curious objects of exceptional utility.

Our mission is to foster connection through innovative products and experiences that blend utility and delight. We’re dedicated to supporting makers and businesses creating quality products here in Chicago, and around the globe.

While physically located in the vibrant West Town neighborhood of Chicago, COE's impact transcends geographical boundaries. It exists in a realm where order and experimentation harmoniously coexist.

The Center was designed and founded in 2022 by Jean Cate of Martha Mae and Julie Purpura of Avenir Creative. Mike Duesenberg of Blank Studio led the naming and branding process for The Center of Order and Experimentation.
