LARRY TCHOGNINOU + MAA MAA DEI
NOVEMBER 17
Maa Maa Dei is a pop up rooted in a desire to connect and embrace the AANHPI diaspora. Maa Maa Dei means "not great, just ok," and this set-the-bar-low attitude makes the perfect stage for experimentation and discovery. Voted Reader’s Choice for Best Pop-Up 2022 in the Chicago Tribune, Maa Maa Dei continues to marry tradition with modernity through sweet & savory treats. Jaye will have a selection of autumn pastries for purchase at the pop-up. These are perfect for holiday celebrations or simple snacking.
Larry Tchogninou is a polymath multidisciplinary creative, product designer, and architect from Benin. His work is an ode to optimism.
Larry will be popping up with his latest kitchen tools - GBÊHANZIN: The Eggs Holder and BEAK!: The Citrus Squeezer. Bringing a modern design take on every day home items, Larry has created tributes to his home of Benin. Working with Benin and Chicago artists to craft and produce these pieces, Larry’s design philosophy is the intersection of form, function, poetry, and story.
